How to say YES to an opportunity that comes your way

Have you ever wondered what the world would be like if people never walked that extra mile, or if they doubted themselves before making an important decision? What would the world be if Thomas Edison feared electricity and never invented the light bulb, where would science be if Einstein accepted his limitations and never went above and beyond to change how we perceive the world today?

They changed the world because they saw an opportunity to do so, and they grabbed it without thinking twice. Opportunities are something that passes with the moment, and if the moment is caught, it could change your life forever. But the human mind is weak and easily diverted, which makes saying “yes” to opportunities a difficult thing to do.

So the few moments in life when you’re presented with an opportunity which is worth risking for, use these steps to make your mind.

  • You have very little to lose and a lot to gain: - The opportunity you want to say yes to is something that may not follow through. But what if it does, and you hit big with it? A little risk should never stop you from looking above and beyond and saying yes is better than wondering what life would be “if you said yes”.
  • Never say no until you’re certain: – If saying yes to an opportunity without analyzing the situation is a bad decision, and then saying no without assessing the details is even worse. Never say no in the face of an opportunity that has been presented to you unless you’re certain that the opportunity is not something you want to look into.
  • Life is too short to wait it out: – Unlike trains, an opportunity does not visit upon people frequently. A fleeting moment will probably never come back, and we do not live forever. You decide whether you’ll ever given such a chance in your life ever again, and if it’s a “once in a lifetime opportunity”, you take it.
  • One opportunity leads to another: - Maybe the opportunity that you’ve been presented with isn’t the exactly cut out scenario that you had in mind. But if it is something that would take you a step closer to working towards your goal, then you should take it. All good things are just like opportunities, they are followed by another one.
  • As yourself “what if?”- Lastly, just ask yourself, what if I take this opportunity, what is the worst that could happen? The path may take you through an unpredictable and crazy journey through hardships and joys, through pain and love..and that is exactly what life is about, it’s all about the journey and not the destination.
